- 1931
- Between 800,000 and 4,000,000 deaths result from over-flooding of the Huang He River in China.
- 1953
- Over 2,000 deaths resulted as the North Sea flooded in numerous Dutch provinces.
- 1955
- Over 100 homes were destroyed and 45,000 evacuated as a result of the Hunter Valley Floods in New Zealand.
- 1972
- 122 deaths result from the overflowing of the Hudson River in New York and Pennsylvania, United States.
- 1975
- Over sixty dams were destroyed and 200,000 deaths resulted as Typhoon Nina flooded China‘s Henan Province.
- 1982
- More than 30 deaths resulted as the Jucar river in Valencia, Spain broke the Tou’s reservoir causing a deluge of water a rate of 16.000 m3/seg.
- 2000
- 1,500,000 were affected, 90% of the infrastructure ruined and over 800 deaths resulted when heavy rainfall hit Mozambique. More damage ensued after Cyclone Eline hit the ravaged region.
- 2001
- 5.5 billion US dollars in damages and 55 deaths resulted from floods caused by Tropical Storm Allison when it hit Houston, Texas, United States.
- 2002
- 22.6 billion Euro in damages and over 100 deaths resulted from the European flood caused in part by an inundation of the Danube River.
- 2005
- Over 700 deaths resulted from flooding in Mumbai, India
- 2005
- 75 billion US Dollars and 1,442 deaths resulted from the floodwaters associated with Hurricane Katrina when it hit New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, additionally incapacitating 80% of the city.
